🛠️ Our Story

Built by builders,
for builders.

ToolYard started as a frustration. We were tired of paying for 12 different tools, dealing with upload limits, account walls, and slow interfaces. So we built the one we wished existed.

The internet's most useful tools — free, forever.

Every professional deserves access to tools that help them do their best work — without subscription fees, privacy trade-offs, or performance compromises. We believe in the open web.

ToolYard is free because it costs almost nothing to run. It is a static site with no servers to pay for, no database and no per-user cost — the work happens on your device, not ours. There is no advertising on it today. If that becomes necessary to cover hosting, it will be clearly labelled and disclosed in the privacy policy first. Your data is never sold, shared or profiled, because it never leaves your browser to begin with.

🔒
Privacy First
Tool processing happens on your device. There is no server endpoint that could receive your files. The one exception, the QR generator, is flagged on the tool itself.
⚡
Performance Obsessed
We target 90+ Lighthouse scores and sub-1s tool interactions on every device.
♾️
Truly Free
No freemium traps, no "Pro" walls, no usage limits — ever.
♿
Accessible by Default
WCAG 2.1 AA compliant. Keyboard navigable. Screen reader friendly.

What we stand for

🎨
Beauty Matters
A tool that's ugly is a tool people avoid. Every pixel on ToolYard is intentional. Great UX isn't a luxury — it's respect for the user's time.
🚀
Speed is a Feature
We load fast, respond instantly, and never make you wait. Client-side processing means no server round-trips. Your computer does the work.
🌍
Global Accessibility
Our tools work in every country, on every connection speed, in every browser. We optimize aggressively for the emerging web and low-bandwidth users.
🔬
Accuracy Above All
A calculator that gives wrong answers is worse than no calculator. Every tool we ship is extensively tested against known inputs before release.
🤝
Community Driven
The roadmap above is the real one, including the parts that are unfinished. Tool requests are open, and what gets built next is driven by what people actually ask for.
🌱
Sustainable Growth
We grow through quality, not growth hacking. We'd rather have a small number of people who rely on ToolYard daily than a large number who find it mediocre.

Who builds ToolYard

An independent project, not a company. Every tool here was written and tested by hand.

🔧
A one-person project
ToolYard has no investors, no team page worth filling, and no growth targets. It is built in the open by one person who wanted a set of tools that did not ask for an account, an upload, or a subscription. Every tool here runs entirely in your browser — which is also why it can stay free.

What's coming next

Where the project actually stands. ToolYard has not launched publicly yet — this is the honest version, not a pitch.

Done ✅
Foundation — 60 tools, 11 categories
Design system, dark/light mode, command palette and keyboard shortcuts. A dependency-free PDF parser and writer built for this project, backing merge, split, rotate, images→PDF and metadata.
Done ✅
Static tool pages, guides and SEO
A generated landing page per tool with its own copy and structured data, plus 14 written guides. Canonical tags and OG cards on every page; sitemap verified against what is actually on disk.
In Progress 🔨
Launched
The site is live on its own domain with cookieless analytics and the sitemap submitted for indexing. Still open: connecting the tool-request and newsletter forms to a real backend — they stay disabled rather than pretending to work. A contact address is live; see the privacy policy.
Next
Filling the gaps
Guides for the tools that do not have one yet, and a written guide for QR codes specifically — the only tool family with no article behind it.
Not planned
Things deliberately left out
PDF→image, PDF→Word and true PDF recompression each need a full rasteriser or layout engine, which cannot run in your browser without a heavy dependency. Absent is better than half-working. No accounts and no Pro tier either.
