Privacy Policy
Last updated: 6 October 2026 · Effective on first public release
🔒 TL;DR: ToolYard runs in your browser. Files you open in tools like Image Compressor never leave your device. There are no accounts, no advertising and no cookies beyond your own saved preferences. Analytics, when enabled, are cookieless and count page views only. There are no exceptions — see Section 3.
1. Overview
ToolYard ("we", "our", "us") operates the website at toolyard.in. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.
We are committed to the principle of data minimisation: we collect only what we genuinely need to operate and improve ToolYard, and we never collect what we don't need.
This policy applies to all visitors to toolyard.in and its subdomains. By using ToolYard, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
ToolYard does not require account creation, and at present there is no way to submit personal information to us at all. The newsletter and tool-request forms are disabled until they are connected to a real backend, so no email addresses or messages are being collected or stored.
When those forms are enabled, this section will be updated to state exactly what they collect before they go live. Tool-request votes are stored only in your own browser and are never sent anywhere.
2.2 Automatically Collected Information
ToolYard is a static site. It has no application server of its own, no database, and no endpoint capable of receiving tool input. Whatever host serves the files will keep standard web server logs, as every web host does.
Where cookieless analytics are enabled, the following is recorded in aggregate and cannot be used to identify you:
- Page URL — which page was viewed.
- Referring URL — the page that linked you here.
- Browser, operating system and device type — in broad categories only.
- Country — derived from your IP address, which is discarded and never stored.
No cookie is set, no identifier is assigned to you, and nothing is tracked across other websites. See Section 5.
3. Client-Side Processing — Your Files Stay Private
⚡ This is the most important section. All ToolYard tools (Image Compressor, JSON Formatter, Password Generator, etc.) run entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Files you upload, text you paste, and passwords you generate are processed locally on your device and are never transmitted to our servers.
This is a core design decision, not just a privacy promise. Our web server has no capability to receive tool inputs because we have not built any such endpoint. You can verify this by monitoring your network traffic in browser DevTools while using any tool.
Specifically, the following never touches our servers:
- Images uploaded to Image Compressor, Resizer, Cropper, or Converter
- Text pasted into Word Counter, JSON Formatter, or Case Converter
- Passwords generated by Password Generator
- JSON data entered in JSON Formatter or Validator
- Any file uploaded to Base64 Encoder
- QR code content, including WiFi passwords and contact details, in the QR Code Generator
That list is complete, and it has no exceptions. No tool on this site sends what you give it to an external service — not ours, and not anyone else's. The QR Code Generator used to be the one exception; it is not any longer, and the change is recorded in Section 10.
4. Cookies and Local Storage
4.1 Essential Cookies
We use the following browser storage mechanisms that are essential to core functionality:
- tf_theme (localStorage) — Remembers your dark/light mode preference.
- tf_recent (localStorage) — Stores your recently viewed tools list (tool IDs only, no usage data).
- tf_favorites (localStorage) — Stores your bookmarked tool IDs.
- tf_prompt_bookmarks (localStorage) — Stores your bookmarked AI prompt IDs.
- tf_qr_history_v2 (localStorage) — Stores the values you entered into your 20 most recent QR codes, so you can restore them. This can include a WiFi password if you generated a WiFi code. It is never transmitted, and the "Clear History" button on the QR tool erases it.
All of the above are stored exclusively in your browser's localStorage. They contain no personal information, never expire automatically, and can be cleared at any time by clearing your browser's site data for toolyard.in.
4.2 Analytics Cookies
None. The analytics we have chosen are cookieless by design (see Section 5). They set no cookies, assign you no identifier, and perform no cross-site tracking. This is also why ToolYard displays no cookie consent banner — under the GDPR and the UK PECR, there is no non-essential storage to ask you about.
4.3 Advertising Cookies
None. ToolYard currently carries no advertising of any kind and no advertising scripts are loaded. If that ever changes, this policy will be updated before any ad code is deployed.
5. Analytics
ToolYard uses Umami, a cookieless analytics service, to understand which tools people find useful. It records:
- Page views and an estimated unique visitor count
- Country, derived from your IP address — the address itself is never stored
- Browser, operating system and device type, in broad categories
- Referral source
It sets no cookies and builds no profile of you. It does not record usernames, email addresses, precise location, financial information, or anything you type into a tool.
Analytics are aggregate-only. Nothing in this section is retroactive: no data was collected before the site was published, because no analytics request was made at all until then.
6. Advertising
ToolYard currently carries no advertising. No ad network is integrated and no advertising script is loaded on any page.
If advertising is introduced to cover hosting costs, these commitments will apply and this section will be updated before any ad code ships:
- Ads will be clearly labelled and limited in number.
- No pop-ups, auto-playing audio, or mobile interstitials.
- Advertisers will never be given access to tool inputs or outputs — which is guaranteed by the architecture, since that content never leaves your device.
- No advertising data will be sold to third parties.
7. Third-Party Services
ToolYard uses the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy:
- Google Fonts — Font delivery. Your browser requests font files from Google, which receives your IP address as part of that request. Google Privacy Policy
- Umami Analytics — Cookieless page-view analytics. Umami Privacy Policy
That is the complete list. There is no advertising network, no Facebook or TikTok pixel, and no social media tracking script anywhere on this site.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right to access — Request a copy of personal data we hold about you.
- Right to deletion — Request deletion of any personal data we hold about you.
- Right to correction — Request correction of inaccurate personal data.
- Right to object — Object to processing of your data for direct marketing.
- Right to data portability — Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
In practice we hold no personal data about you: there are no accounts, the forms that could collect anything are disabled, and the analytics are cookieless and aggregate. There is therefore nothing for us to look up, export or delete.
Everything ToolYard stores about you sits in your own browser's localStorage, listed in Section 4.1, and you can erase all of it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser — no request to us required.
For anything else, email adesarakishan9101@gmail.com. We respond to formal data requests within 30 days.
9. Children's Privacy
ToolYard is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to us, report it to adesarakishan9101@gmail.com. In practice ToolYard has no mechanism to collect personal information from anyone, of any age.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will display a notice on the ToolYard homepage for 30 days.
Your continued use of ToolYard after policy changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. If you do not agree with changes, you should stop using ToolYard.
10.1 Record of Material Changes
Changes that affected what happens to your data are listed here rather than removed, so that anyone who read an earlier version can see what moved.
- 2 October 2026 — the QR Code Generator stopped using a
third-party service. Before this date the tool built its image
by calling
api.qrserver.com, which meant the content you entered was sent to that service as part of the request. Because the tool offers WiFi and contact-card types, that could have included a WiFi password, a phone number or an email address. It now encodes QR codes entirely in your browser and makes no external request. The previous version of this policy disclosed the old behaviour as an exception to Section 3; that exception no longer exists.
If you generated a WiFi or contact QR code on this site before 2 October 2026, treat the contents as having been shared with that third party, and rotate the WiFi password if you consider it sensitive. - 2 October 2026 — QR history storage changed key.
The old
tf_qr_historyentry in localStorage held the generated image addresses, which included your content. It is nowtf_qr_history_v2and holds only the field values you typed, locally. The old key is deleted automatically the next time you open the tool.
11. Contact Us
For privacy-related questions, requests, or concerns:
- Email: adesarakishan9101@gmail.com
ToolYard is run by one person, so this is a personal address rather than a staffed inbox. Expect a reply within 5 business days for general queries; formal data requests are answered within 30 days, as Section 8 states.
