Naming conventions are rarely a matter of taste — they are enforced by the language, the framework, or the team. Converting between them by hand is tedious and error-prone, especially across a long list of identifiers.

How to use the Case Converter

  1. Paste your text into the input box
  2. Click the case you want to convert to
  3. Copy the result, or convert again to a different case

Where each case is used

  • camelCase — JavaScript and Java variables and functions. getUserName
  • PascalCase — classes, components and types in most languages. UserProfile
  • snake_case — Python variables and functions, and SQL column names. user_name
  • kebab-case — URLs, CSS class names, HTML attributes, and filenames. user-profile
  • CONSTANT_CASE — constants and environment variables. MAX_RETRY_COUNT
  • Title Case — headings and article titles.
  • Sentence case — body text, and increasingly UI labels and buttons.

Title case is not just capitalising everything

Proper title case leaves short words lowercase unless they start or end the title: articles (a, an, the), coordinating conjunctions (and, but, or), and short prepositions (in, on, at, to, of). So it is The Rise of the Machines, not The Rise Of The Machines.

Style guides disagree on the cutoff — AP lowercases prepositions of three letters or fewer, Chicago uses four. Pick one and be consistent; the inconsistency is more noticeable than either choice.

Frequently asked questions

Which case should I use for URLs?

kebab-case. Lowercase with hyphens is the long-standing convention, Google treats hyphens as word separators (underscores it does not), and it avoids case-sensitivity problems between servers.

What is the difference between camelCase and PascalCase?

Only the first character. camelCase starts lowercase (getUserName), PascalCase starts uppercase (GetUserName). PascalCase is also called UpperCamelCase.

Will converting break my accented characters?

No. Case conversion is Unicode-aware, so é becomes É correctly. Conversions that strip characters — kebab-case and snake_case — will remove accents, since those cases are meant for identifiers and URLs.

Can I convert a whole list at once?

Yes. Paste multiple lines and the conversion applies to the entire text. For identifier cases each line is treated separately, so a list of names converts cleanly.
